• Lesson/course attendance

We collect and process your data when you

• contact us regarding a lesson or course

• register for lessons or a course (whether in person, by telephone or electronically)

• provide feedback of any kind

How will we use your data?

NAVY School of English collects your data so that we can

• monitor your progress on a course

• keep you informed about matters relating to your lessons or course (for example times, dates, homework, teacher feedback and cancellations)

• keep you informed about matters relating to NAVY School of English (for example holiday dates)

• contact you regarding new courses or workshops that we think you would be interested in (if you have given us your consent)

• use your image for marketing purposes (if you have given us your consent)

• provide you with a certificate upon the successful completion of a course

• contact a relative or friend in the event of an accident or if you become unwell

If your course is being paid for by your workplace, we will share your attendance and course progress information with that workplace.

How do we store your data?

We keep this data on paper in a secure office. If you do not continue with NAVY School of English after your first lesson with us, we will retain your information for one year before destroying it securely. If you study with us for longer, we will retain your information for 24 months after your last lesson before destroying it securely.

Marketing

We’d love to email you relevant information on courses that you might find interesting and you will be asked if you want to provide consent for this when you register. We will treat your personal information with the utmost care and will not sell or share this with any other company (except as aforementioned if your course is paid for by your workplace, when we will share your attendance and course progress with said workplace). We include an unsubscribe option on all of our email correspondence, so even if you opt in now, you can opt out whenever you want.

What are my data protection rights?

NAVY School of English would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to ask NAVY School of English for copies of your personal data.

The right to rectification – You have the right to request that NAVY School of English correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request NAVY School of English to complete any information you believe is incomplete.

The right to erasure – You have the right to request that NAVY School of English erase your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that NAVY School of English restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to NAVY School of English processing your personal data, under certain conditions.
